ASLH Annual Meeting 2007

by American Society for Legal History

The American Society for Legal History (ASLH) held its 2007 Annual Meeting from October 25 to 28 at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel in Tempe, Arizona. This gathering brought together scholars and practitioners to explore various facets of legal history, with the event sponsored by the University of Arizona School of Law.

The conference featured 34 panels and over 100 papers covering a wide range of topics, including the legal profession, the U.S. Supreme Court, English and European legal history, the legal history of the Southwest, gender and race, intellectual property, constitutional law, and law and literature. A highlight of the event was the plenary lecture delivered by Professor Paul Brand of All Souls College, University of Oxford.

Attendees had opportunities to engage in networking sessions and participate in discussions with leading experts in the field. The event also recognized emerging scholars through the Kathryn T. Preyer Scholars program, which supports early-career legal historians in presenting their research to the society.

The ASLH Annual Meeting is ideal for legal historians, scholars, and students seeking to deepen their understanding of legal history and connect with peers in the field. The diverse range of topics and esteemed speakers make it a valuable event for anyone interested in the historical development of legal systems.
