The Oklahoma Bar Association (OBA) is a mandatory, integrated bar association for the state of Oklahoma, established in 1904 through the merger of the Oklahoma Territory Bar Association and the Indian Territory Bar Association. It serves to advance the welfare of Indian peoples economically, socially, and politically.
The OBA enforces the requirement that Oklahoma lawyers must complete 12 credits of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) every year. The association is governed by a 17-member Board of Governors, elected by OBA members, and managed by an Executive Director and staff.
The OBA publishes the monthly Oklahoma Bar Journal, established in 1930, which is distributed 10 months out of the year. Although an arm of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, the OBA does not receive any appropriations from the Oklahoma Legislature or other public or tax-related revenues.
