The ARMA Metro NYC Chapter's 2016 Annual Conference, held on March 8, 2016, was a premier event for records and information governance professionals in the New York metropolitan area. Organized in collaboration with the ARMA Northern New Jersey, Connecticut, and Long Island chapters, the conference provided a full day of education, networking, and vendor exhibits.

Sessions focused on records management and information governance, addressing current challenges and future trends impacting organizations. The program included discussions on data management, information governance strategies, and the integration of technology in records management.

Notable speakers at the event included Michelle Miller, an award-winning CBS News Correspondent, who delivered the keynote address. Other distinguished presenters were Paolo Mittiga, an independent consultant with extensive experience in data management; Thomas Moss, Assistant Vice President of Records Management at Security Mutual Life Insurance Company; William Saffady, a renowned records and information management consultant; and George Schultzel, a Special Agent with the FBI's New York Cyber Division. The conference also offered networking opportunities and an expo hall featuring vendors in the records management and information governance field.

The conference was designed for records and information governance professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills. Attendees had the opportunity to earn 5.5 Certified Records Manager (CRM) credits and 4.5 Information Governance Professional (IGP) credits, making it a valuable event for those pursuing professional development in the field.

Deborah Butler

Deborah Butler has a diverse 25-year legal and management career, serving as architect and manager of global privacy and information governance programs for large multinational corporations. She has managed legal and business staffs and represented clients in various high-stakes transactions and initiatives.

Eugene Stakhov

CRM, CDIA+ at enChoice, Inc.

Eugene Stakhov is a senior ECM/Information Governance Solution Architect at enChoice, Inc., with a technical background in software development. He has provided expert guidance on enterprise taxonomy development and technical system implementation solutions in various sectors.

Galina Datskovsky

Ph.D., CRM, FAI at Vaporstream

Dr. Galina Datskovsky is the CEO of Vaporstream and has served on the board of multiple startups, assisting with strategy. Formerly Vice President of Information Governance at Autonomy, an HP Company, she has also held leadership roles at CA Technologies and MDY Group International. She is a Certified Records Manager and a Fellow of ARMA International.

George Schultzel

Special Agent at Federal Bureau of Investigation

George Schultzel is a Special Agent with the FBI, assigned to the New York Cyber Division. He is part of the Financial Cyber Crime Task Force, investigating criminal computer intrusions focusing on the financial sector, specializing in botnets and money laundering apparatus used by complex cyber criminals.

Heidi Wachs

Heidi L. Wachs is a member of Jenner & Block’s Privacy and Information Governance Practice. She is a nationally recognized leader in privacy, breach response, and data security compliance, with experience as a privacy researcher and as chief privacy officer of a major university.

James F. Dawson

Director at KPMG LLP

James Dawson is a Director in the New York office of KPMG LLP’s U.S. Forensic Advisory Services practice, specializing in Forensic Technology Information Governance. Prior to joining KPMG, he was MetLife’s Legal Affairs Director of Information Discovery and Litigation Support, with over 30 years of experience in information governance and electronic discovery.

Jason C. Stearns

Jason C. Stearns is a Director at BlackRock, responsible for the global implementation of Information Governance standards and requirements. Previously, he worked at UBS as Director and Portfolio Manager, Group Information Governance, and was the Corporate Records Manager for New York Life Insurance Company.

Jay Wood has worked in various Records & Information Management, Risk, and Information Security capacities for over 20 years, mostly in the financial services industry. He is currently the Head of Digital Records Management at BNY Mellon.
