ISBA Annual Meeting 2016

by Indiana State Bar Association

The Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) hosted its 120th Annual Meeting from September 28 to 30, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis. This premier event brought together legal professionals from across the state to engage in continuing legal education (CLE) sessions, networking opportunities, and discussions on the future of the legal profession.

The meeting featured a diverse range of topics, including federal practice tips, meditation for ethical lawyering, and the future of the legal profession. Notably, Jerry Buting, defense attorney from the Netflix documentary series "Making a Murderer," delivered a keynote address discussing the Steven Avery case and broader implications for the American criminal justice system. Additionally, a luncheon panel addressed the evolving landscape of legal services, featuring leaders from Avvo, LegalZoom, and state bar associations.

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in wellness activities such as a hip-hop workout class and a 5K fun run/walk. The event also included a Law Expo, providing a platform for legal service providers to showcase their offerings. Networking receptions and committee meetings facilitated connections among peers and leaders in the legal community.

The ISBA Annual Meeting was designed for legal professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge, stay informed about industry trends, and connect with colleagues. The event offered valuable insights into current legal issues, professional development opportunities, and a forum to discuss the future of the legal profession.
