The Sedona Conference Working Group 1 (WG1) Annual Meeting 2016 was a two-day event held on October 27-28, 2016, at the Loews Atlanta Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Organized by The Sedona Conference, a nonprofit research and educational institute dedicated to advancing law and policy, this meeting focused on electronic document retention and production.

Key topics included the practical application of the December 1, 2015, amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, with sessions on cooperation and proportionality in discovery, formulating and responding to requests for electronically stored information (ESI), preservation and sanctions for the loss of ESI, and proposed amendments to Federal Rules of Evidence 803 and 902. Additional discussions covered diversity and the elimination of bias in the legal profession, information governance, and ethical duties to protect confidential client information from cyber threats.
