International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners 2018

by European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) and Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP)

The International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners (ICDPPC) is an annual global forum that brings together independent regulators to discuss and adopt resolutions on privacy, data protection, and freedom of information. The 40th edition of the conference was co-hosted by the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) and the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP) from October 22 to 26, 2018, in Brussels, Belgium, and Sofia, Bulgaria.

The 2018 conference focused on the theme "Debating Ethics: Dignity and Respect in Data Driven Life," addressing the ethical dimensions of personal data processing in the digital era. Key topics included digital ethics, the impact of artificial intelligence on privacy, and the role of data protection authorities in upholding human dignity in a data-driven world.

The event featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, World Wide Web inventor Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and philosopher Anita Allen. The conference provided numerous networking opportunities, panel discussions, and side events, facilitating collaboration among data protection authorities, industry leaders, academics, and civil society representatives.

Professionals involved in data protection, privacy law, information security, and related fields would benefit from attending to stay informed about global trends, engage with experts, and contribute to the ongoing discourse on ethical data practices.
