The EDRM 2019 Workshop, held from May 15 to 17, 2019, at Duke Law School in Durham, North Carolina, was an annual event organized by the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM). This workshop brought together judges, practitioners, consultants, service providers, and software vendors to collaboratively address challenges in e-discovery and information governance.
Key sessions included a panel featuring in-house counsel from Exxon/Mobil, American Airlines, and GSK, discussing their major e-discovery challenges and strategies for collaborating with external consultants and service providers. Another panel comprised four judges who shared insights on the most and least useful e-discovery information, with Judge Jim Wynn addressing the judiciary's IT challenges and priorities. Additionally, the workshop examined Dr. Herbert Roitblat's FOMO paper, which analyzes the effectiveness of Technology Assisted Review (TAR) in e-discovery.
The event provided networking opportunities, allowing attendees to engage with industry leaders and peers. Accommodations were available at the Washington Duke Inn, with a special rate of $199 per night for workshop participants.
The workshop was designed for legal professionals, e-discovery practitioners, and technology experts seeking to enhance their understanding of e-discovery best practices and to contribute to ongoing projects in the field.
