The Hong Kong Investment Funds Association (HKIFA) hosted its 13th Annual Conference on November 1, 2019, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong. This full-day event provided a platform for market participants, regulators, distributors, and other stakeholders to network and discuss pertinent industry issues, aiming to strengthen Hong Kong's position as a premier fund hub.
The conference focused on two main themes: sustainability and the Greater Bay Area. Discussions addressed the importance of green finance, the impacts of climate change on the financial sector, and the development of risk-based capital regimes. Additionally, sessions explored opportunities and challenges within the Greater Bay Area, emphasizing collaboration and connectivity among regulators, fund managers, and distributors.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage with industry leaders and experts through keynote speeches and panel discussions. Notably, Howard Lee, Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the significance of green finance and the evolving financial landscape in the region.
