The International Dispute Resolution Conference 2019 was a one-day event held on April 17, 2019, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organized by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the Hong Kong Mediation Centre (HKMC), and the International Dispute Resolution & Risk Management Institute (IDRRMI), in collaboration with the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the conference aimed to foster discussions on emerging trends in dispute resolution and the impact of the newly approved "Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation" on the international business environment.

The conference featured four sub-themes: the trend of using international dispute resolution to address trading and investment disputes; the Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation; state-to-state dispute resolution and investor-state dispute resolution; and mediation as a smart way to resolve international intellectual property disputes. These topics were explored through presentations and panel discussions by over 25 international and regional experts, practitioners, academics, judges, and senior government officials.

The event provided a unique opportunity for experts, practitioners, officials, scholars, entrepreneurs, and those interested in dispute resolution to exchange ideas and network with others across the globe. With more than 850 participants in attendance, the conference facilitated meaningful discussions and collaborations among professionals in the field.

The conference was particularly relevant for legal professionals, mediators, arbitrators, academics, and business leaders involved in international trade and investment. Attendees gained valuable insights into the latest developments in dispute resolution and the implications of new international agreements, enhancing their ability to navigate and manage cross-border disputes effectively.
