The British Legal Technology Forum 2020, organized by Netlaw Media, was Europe's largest legal technology conference and exhibition, held on Tuesday, 10th March 2020, at the Old Billingsgate in London. The event attracted over 1,094 senior decision-makers from the legal and commercial technology sectors, despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The forum focused on law firm transformation, cybersecurity innovation, service delivery, and technology for the future lawyer, bringing together professionals to explore systems, strategies, processes, and platforms driving the legal industry into the next decade and beyond.
Key topics covered included the reinvention of the business of law, addressing change through law firm transformation, design thinking, innovation placement within law firms, excellence in modern legal departments, service delivery challenges, live cybersecurity demonstrations, quantum computing, machine learning, future integration, and legal operations aligned with client needs. The event featured over 50 expert speakers across four presentation stages, including the Main Stage, Lounge Stage, Innovation Stage, and Future-Tech Stage, providing a comprehensive program of multi-stream conference sessions, keynote presentations, panel discussions, knowledge sessions, interviews, debates, and interactive demonstrations.
Attendees had access to over 2,500 square meters of exhibition space, showcasing more than 100 of Europe's leading technology and IT security suppliers. The forum also offered networking opportunities through a Champagne Bar, Gin Bar, Ale House, and full catering services, facilitating connections among professionals. Notable speakers included Mo Gawdat, former Chief Business Officer at Google [X], who delivered a keynote on "The Age of Sci-Fi," discussing the realities of current industry technology and the reasoning behind rapid adoption. Professor Richard Susskind OBE chaired the event, providing insights into technology, courts, and litigation, and hosting a debate on technological disruption's challenges and implications.
The British Legal Technology Forum 2020 was designed for senior decision-makers in law firms, barristers' chambers, in-house legal departments, and alternative legal service providers.
