Federalist Society National Lawyers Convention 2021
The Federalist Society's National Lawyers Convention is an annual gathering that brings together legal professionals, scholars, and policymakers to discuss pressing legal and public policy issues. Organized by the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies, the 2021 convention took place from November 11 to 13 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The 2021 convention centered on the theme "Public and Private Power: Preserving Freedom or Preventing Harm?" Key sessions included discussions on social activism and corporate leadership, private control over public discourse, corporate and academic management, and the interplay between law, science, and public policy. These panels featured prominent federal appellate judges, law professors, and experts from various advocacy organizations.
In addition to the panel discussions, the convention offered numerous networking opportunities, including the Antonin Scalia Memorial Dinner, which featured Senator Tom Cotton as the keynote speaker. The event also hosted the Thirteenth Annual Rosenkranz Debate and the Twentieth Annual Barbara K. Olson Memorial Lecture, delivered by Theodore B. Olson. Attendees had the chance to engage with peers, judges, and practitioners, fostering professional connections and discussions on contemporary legal issues.
The convention is particularly beneficial for legal professionals, law students, and scholars interested in conservative and libertarian perspectives on law and public policy. It provides a platform to engage with thought leaders, participate in substantive discussions, and stay informed about current legal debates and developments.
