The APIL Abuse Conference 2022, held in association with ACAL, took place on Thursday, 23 June 2022, at the Marriott Marble Arch Hotel in London. This 14th annual event was organized by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers (ACAL), offering both in-person and virtual attendance options to accommodate a wide range of participants.
The conference covered a variety of critical topics pertinent to abuse law, including the experiences of survivors within the criminal justice system, the role of Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs) in client welfare, developments in vicarious liability, and the latest insights on failure to remove claims. Additional sessions addressed claims related to racial abuse, the principle of just satisfaction in Human Rights Act claims, psychiatric considerations for vulnerable clients, and legal cost management.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage with leading experts through live Q&A sessions following each presentation. The hybrid format facilitated networking among delegates and speakers via interactive one-on-one chats and direct messaging services. All participants received access to the conference recordings, available on demand for six months post-event, ensuring flexibility in viewing sessions at their convenience.
This conference was particularly beneficial for legal professionals specializing in abuse and safeguarding claims, providing authoritative legal insights, practical guidance, and expert analysis to support the effective handling of complex abuse cases. The event also offered Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation, contributing to the ongoing education and professional development of attendees.
