11th HNBA/VIA Intellectual Property Law Institute
by Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) and HNBA VIA Fund
The 11th HNBA/VIA Intellectual Property Law Institute (IPLI) is an intensive program designed to immerse law students in the field of intellectual property and technology law. Organized by the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) and its charitable arm, the HNBA VIA Fund, the IPLI aims to increase the number of Hispanic lawyers practicing in these specialized areas.
Throughout the week-long program, participants engage in comprehensive educational sessions covering patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. The curriculum includes practical workshops on writing and interviewing skills, as well as visits to key institutions such as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the Copyright Office, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. These experiences provide scholars with a deep understanding of the intellectual property landscape.
In addition to academic instruction, the IPLI offers valuable networking opportunities. Scholars attend events sponsored by leading law firms and corporations, facilitating connections with experienced practitioners and potential mentors. Notable speakers from various sectors share insights, enriching the learning experience and offering perspectives on career development in intellectual property law.
The IPLI is ideal for law students with a demonstrated interest in intellectual property and technology law. By participating, students gain specialized knowledge, practical skills, and professional connections that can significantly enhance their career prospects in these dynamic legal fields.
