Fireside Chat #4: Navigating in Outer Space and Cyberspace: Laws and Practice was organized by the AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre (AALCO-HKRAC) on November 13, 2023. The event featured Mr. Nick Chan, MH, JP, Director of AALCO-HKRAC, and guest speaker Prof. Zhao Yun, Henry Cheng Professor in International Law and Associate Dean (Mainland Affairs) at the University of Hong Kong, who shared their insights on the legal frameworks governing outer space and cyberspace.

The discussion delved into the historical origins and latest developments in outer space law, highlighting the evolving legal landscape as human activities in space expand. Additionally, the speakers addressed the pressing issue of cybercrime, emphasizing the need for collaboration among governments and various stakeholders to effectively combat this growing threat.

The event was supported by esteemed organizations including The University of Hong Kong, Hague Conference on Private International Law, The Federation of Hong Kong Industries, Hong Kong Bar Association, The Law Society of Hong Kong, and the Young Executive Council-Federation of Hong Kong Industries. It attracted a diverse audience comprising members of these organizations, lawmakers, government officials, business community leaders, and leading professionals. The venue was the historic Former French Mission Building, which previously housed Hong Kong’s Court of Final Appeal.
