From Web to AI: Navigating Digital Democracy

The event "From Web to AI: Navigating Digital Democracy" was organized by the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy at the Geneva Graduate Institute. It took place on October 12, 2023, at the Maison de la Paix in Geneva. The event featured a keynote lecture by Urs Gasser, Professor at the Technical University of Munich and Member of the Board of Directors at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.

The keynote addressed the evolution of digital technologies from the inception of the World Wide Web to the current age of artificial intelligence, focusing on their impact on democratic processes. Following the lecture, a panel discussion explored the intersection of emerging technologies and democracy, with contributions from experts including Alexander Barclay, Delegate for Digital Policy for the Canton of Geneva, and Caitlin Buchman, CEO and Founder of Women at the Table.

The event concluded with a reception, providing attendees an opportunity to network and discuss the topics presented. This gathering was part of the Geneva Democracy Week and was supported by the Permanent Mission of the United States.
