MARQUES Licensing for Beginners Webinar 2024

The Licensing for Beginners Webinar is an online event organized by MARQUES, the Association Representing Trade Mark Owners' Interests. Scheduled for Monday, 25th November 2024, from 15:00 to 16:30 CET, this webinar is designed to provide newer intellectual property practitioners with practical experience in contract negotiation through a simulated exercise.

Participants will engage in a mock negotiation of a trademark license agreement, assuming the roles of different parties to address key issues pertinent to their respective companies. The exercise aims to develop skills in seeking compromises and solutions that foster mutually beneficial relationships. The webinar will be led by Mark Devaney of Abion, UAE, Chair of the MARQUES Intellectual Asset Management Team, with moderators including Gonzalo Barboza (Ellipse IP, Spain), Richard Groos (King & Spalding LLP, USA), and Bill Budd (Virgin Enterprises Limited, UK).

To ensure an interactive and engaging experience, the webinar is limited to 20 participants. Attendees are expected to actively participate using their cameras and microphones. The session will include breakout rooms for group discussions, where participants will review confidential instructions, negotiate with counterparts, and later reconvene to discuss outcomes and compare negotiation styles.

This event is particularly beneficial for new IP practitioners, both in-house and in private practice, seeking to enhance their negotiation skills and understanding of licensing agreements. The practical insights gained will be valuable in navigating real-world IP licensing scenarios.
