by Permanent Commission on Access to Justice

The 2024 Law School Conference, titled "Let's Talk AI and A2J: How Law Schools, Civil Legal Services, and the Courts Together Can Harness Technology to Address the Justice Gap," was organized by the Permanent Commission on Access to Justice in partnership with Fordham University School of Law. This virtual event convened representatives from New York's law schools, civil legal services organizations, the courts, community organizations, and other stakeholders to explore the role of generative AI in expanding access to justice.

The conference featured an opening plenary session on the impact of AI on legal education, followed by a rapid-fire tech session showcasing innovative AI tools. Additionally, four concurrent sessions delved deeper into the power of AI and its applications in addressing the justice gap. Topics included the implications of AI for the legal profession, strategies for incorporating AI into law school curricula, and demonstrations of AI tools designed to assist legal aid attorneys and improve service delivery.

Ally, Co-Chair of the NYS Permanent Commission on Access to Justice; and Matthew Diller, Dean of Fordham University School of Law.
