Texas Minority Counsel Program 2024

by State Bar of Texas Office of Minority Affairs

The Texas Minority Counsel Program (TMCP) is the premier client development, networking, and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) event for attorneys in Texas. Established in 1993 by the State Bar of Texas Office of Minority Affairs, the TMCP aims to increase opportunities for diverse attorneys providing legal services to corporate and governmental clients, and to expose organizations to the legal talent of diverse attorneys in Texas. The program is open to all attorneys and focuses on enhancing the amount and significance of legal work provided by minority, women, LGBTQ+, and other historically underrepresented attorneys.

The 32nd Annual TMCP, held from October 23-25, 2024, in Austin, featured a comprehensive agenda designed to benefit both in-house and outside counsel. Attendees had access to CLE sessions led by leading experts, covering practical topics relevant to today's legal landscape. The program also offered unique opportunities for one-on-one meetings between outside counsel and corporations, facilitating direct client development and collaboration.

Beyond educational sessions, the TMCP provided a variety of networking events, including dine-arounds, a golf tournament, a spa retreat, and multiple receptions. These activities were designed to foster connections among attendees, allowing them to develop new professional relationships and strengthen existing ones. Additionally, the program included pipeline initiatives aimed at reaching middle school and law school students, promoting diversity and inclusion within the legal profession.

The TMCP is ideal for attorneys seeking to expand their client base, enhance their professional skills, and engage with a diverse group of legal professionals. By participating, attendees gain valuable insights, develop meaningful connections, and contribute to the advancement of diversity within the legal community.
