AALS Symposium 2025

by Association of American Law Schools

The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) is organizing a symposium titled "Impact, Excellence, Resilience: Contemporary Views on Pioneering Legal Education Scholarship." Scheduled for October 8, 2025, this event will be hosted by New York Law School. The symposium aims to reflect on the evolution of legal education over the past 75 years, as documented by the Journal of Legal Education.

The program will feature a series of panel discussions addressing a wide range of articles from the Journal's archives. In some instances, the original authors of these articles will participate in the discussions. The symposium complements the 2026 AALS Annual Meeting, which will examine and reflect on the many contributions of legal education to society and American life.

Panels will be held both live and online, providing flexibility for attendees. The discussants' papers, prepared specifically for the symposium, will be published in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Legal Education. Additionally, recordings of each discussion will be made available through the AALS website.

This symposium is ideal for legal educators, scholars, and practitioners interested in the historical and contemporary developments in legal education. Attendees will gain insights into pioneering scholarship and engage in meaningful discussions about the future of legal education.
