The American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL) will host its 56th Annual Meeting from October 30 to November 2, 2025, at the Boston Marriott Copley Place in Boston, Massachusetts. This premier event brings together over 700 forensic psychiatrists, psychiatrists, residents, fellows, students, and other professionals from around the world to engage in education, networking, and discussions aimed at advancing the practice of forensic psychiatry.
The 2025 meeting will focus on the theme "Transparency: Embracing What We Know and Don’t Know," addressing current major issues in forensic psychiatry. Attendees will have opportunities to refresh their skills in the fundamentals of the discipline, engage in discussions on professional standards, and update their knowledge through various sessions and workshops.
In addition to educational sessions, the meeting will feature networking opportunities, including a special Masquerade Reception on October 31, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the Gloucester Room on the 3rd floor. This event invites attendees to mingle with colleagues and friends, enjoy music and seasonal bites, and partake in lighthearted Halloween fun with an air of mystery. Costumes are not necessary, but masks are encouraged.
The AAPL Annual Meeting is designed for forensic psychiatrist members, psychiatrists interested in forensic psychiatry, forensic psychiatry residents and fellows, psychiatry students, and members of the legal profession. It offers a platform to exchange ideas, gain practical knowledge, foster the development of future psychiatrists in this field, and encourage research.
