"Defining Technology Competency in the Age of Generative AI" is a session at ABA TECHSHOW 2025, scheduled for April 4, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The session is led by Kenton Brice from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and Ivy B. Grey from WordRake.

This session will explore the concept and definition of technology competency, particularly in the context of generative AI’s evolving role in the legal profession. It will address the ethical and practical implications of integrating, and not integrating, modern technologies into legal practice, emphasizing the need for lawyers to develop technological proficiency. As a backdrop, this session will also discuss the current efforts on providing definitional frameworks for the duty of technology competency in partnership with the SALI Alliance.

The session is part of ABA TECHSHOW 2025, which focuses on innovation that protects the rule of law. The conference features various sessions and programming that highlight how technology can empower legal professionals to protect the rule of law.
