The Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) is hosting its 33rd Annual Meeting and Conference from April 23 to 26, 2025, at the Marriott Marquis Chicago. This marks the first time the conference will be held in Chicago and the first return to the United States in over 15 years. The IPBA, established in 1991 in Tokyo, is an international association of over 1,600 lawyers specializing in business and commercial law with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region.
The conference theme, "Transformation Everywhere All at Once: Business and Law in a Changing World," addresses the global challenges businesses face today. Attendees will engage in discussions on developments in legal practice within a rapidly evolving global environment. Sessions will cover topics such as re-globalization, navigating tax, trade, and supply chain challenges, managing sanctions and blocking statutes, and intellectual property protection issues related to employment and IP laws.
In addition to the educational sessions, the conference offers numerous networking opportunities, including a Welcome Reception at Wrigley Field, a Gala Dinner, and various social events. Notable speakers include Evan Y. Chuck, Maria Alejandra (Jana) del-Cerro, Judy He, and Jeremy Iloulian, who will share their expertise on pertinent legal topics.
Legal professionals with an interest in the Asia-Pacific region, including corporate counsel, private practitioners, and academics, are encouraged to attend. The conference provides a platform to connect with peers from over 65 legal jurisdictions, gain insights into current legal trends, and explore collaborative opportunities in a dynamic global landscape.
