The 2026 Conference on Violent Crime is a collaborative event organized by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) in partnership with the Department of State Police, the Department of Corrections, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia. Scheduled from June 2 to June 4, 2026, at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel in Norfolk, Virginia, this two-and-a-half-day conference aims to address strategies and trends in reducing violent crime within the Commonwealth.
The conference will feature keynote and workshop presentations from both local and national experts, covering topics such as an examination of violent crime incidents and trends, targeted violence, community threat assessment, community engagement, and prevention strategies. Notable sessions include "Justice in the Age of Generative AI: The Impact of AI on 21st Century Investigations and Prosecutions," "Lethality Assessment Protocol (LAP): Enhancing Coordinated Community Response to Intimate Partner Violence," and "Reducing Violent Crime: The 12 Principles and Practices."
