Environmental & Energy Law Section Annual Meeting

by New York State Bar Association

The Environmental & Energy Law Section Annual Meeting is a premier event organized by the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA). This gathering brings together legal professionals, policymakers, and scholars to discuss and address pressing issues in environmental and energy law. The 2026 meeting is particularly significant as it marks the 50th anniversary of the Section, celebrating five decades of contributions to the field.

The program features a comprehensive agenda covering a range of critical topics. Sessions include an exploration of the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) on its 50th anniversary, discussions on the integration of artificial intelligence in environmental and energy practices, and analyses of New York's nuclear energy future in response to increasing energy demands. Additionally, the event will address evolving environmental and energy law policies and priorities, providing attendees with insights into the changing legal landscape.

Beyond the educational sessions, the meeting offers valuable networking opportunities. Attendees can participate in committee meetings, receptions, and an off-site luncheon, fostering connections among peers and industry leaders. Notable speakers include Susan Amron, former General Counsel for the New York City Department of City Planning, and Michael Martuci, Region 2 Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, among others.

This event is ideal for attorneys, environmental consultants, policymakers, and law students interested in environmental and energy law. Participants will gain up-to-date knowledge on current issues, engage with experts in the field, and earn Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits, enhancing their professional development and expertise.
