LASA Central America 2026 is the inaugural regional symposium organized by the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), scheduled to take place from August 4 to 7, 2026, in San José, Costa Rica, with both in-person and virtual participation options. This symposium aims to provide an intimate space for researchers, academics, and practitioners to discuss critical issues and topics pertinent to Central America, fostering networking and collaboration among LASA members and non-members alike.

The symposium will cover a diverse range of themes, including politics, socio-economic and territorial issues, violence and human rights, resistances and counter-hegemony, indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples, migration and the Central American diaspora, literature, film, and art, as well as colonial and contemporary history and archaeology.
