David Jackson
General Counsel at Vitruvian Partners
David Jackson is the General Counsel at Vitruvian Partners, a London-based global private equity firm. He started his career at Freshfields, before moving to Barclays where he held a number of roles over 17 years, including Barclays Europe General Counsel and General Council for the Corporate Centre. During his time at Barclays, David was responsible for many diversity and citizenship initiatives. He has a particular interest in equipping young people from diverse and socially mobile backgrounds to enter into and succeed in the legal profession, at the same time as influencing law firms to embrace and enable the power and value of diversity.
Dr Charlotte Proudman
Award-winning Barrister, Academic, Campaigner, Author, Founder and Director of Right To Equality
Dr Charlotte Proudman is an award-winning barrister, Cambridge academic and campaigner fighting for women's rights in and out of court. Charlotte represents survivors of rape, domestic abuse and coercive and controlling behaviour in court whilst also challenging misconceptions across the sector. She uses her knowledge and experience of the justice system to advocate for legal change to ensure protection and support for victims and survivors. Combining the law and academia, Charlotte is a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, where she researches and teaches about gender inequality under the law. Charlotte was awarded a doctorate in FGM law and policy from King's College, Cambridge. As an expert in FGM, Charlotte was instrumental in the introduction of FGM Protection Orders (FGMPOs), continues to represent victims of FGM in court, and is widely published in the field. For over a decade, Charlotte has fearlessly promoted gender equality under the law. She has successfully spearheaded campaigns to change the law for women: she was instrumental in the criminalisation of forced marriage, virginity testing, hymenoplasty and child marriage. Alongside Girls Not Brides, Charlotte advocated increasing the age of marriage from 16 to 18 years old. Charlotte is the founder and director of Right to Equality, a non-profit working to advance gender equality and diversity, putting access to justice at the top of the agenda. The organisation challenges abuses of power, male violence, gender inequality and injustice and is campaigning to end the presumption of child contact with abusive parents, implement affirmative consent into UK law, increase transparency in family court and successfully campaigned decriminalise abortion and to make public sexual harassment and spiking specific offences.
Katy Hampshire
Director of Programmes at Sutton Trust
Katy is the Director of Programmes at the Sutton Trust, a charity dedicated to improving social mobility in the UK. Katy leads the work covering university access and employability programmes, including our Pathways to Law programme for young people and alumni. She is also a Director of PRIME, an alliance of law firms and in-house legal teams across the UK determined to improve access to and socio-economic diversity within the legal profession. She joined the Trust in 2023 and was previously Director of Programmes and Operations at national charity Education and Employers connecting state schools to volunteers from the world of work. Prior to this she worked on a youth programme for Voluntary Service Overseas and spent a decade in corporate finance for EY, FTI Consulting and HSBC. Katy is also a governor of a local primary school.
