by Centre for IT and IP Law (CiTiP), Faculty of Law and Criminology, KU Leuven

The Leuven IP & AI Conference 2026 is a premier event dedicated to exploring the intersection of Intellectual Property (IP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Organized by the Centre for IT and IP Law (CiTiP) at KU Leuven's Faculty of Law and Criminology, this conference aims to provide a platform for advanced reflection on the latest developments in IP and AI. It follows the successful Durham 2025 edition and seeks to bring together national, European, and global IP scholars and practitioners.

The conference will cover key topics such as AI and creativity, AI and innovation, AI and platforms, and AI and consumers. Sessions will include presentations and discussions chaired by esteemed academics, focusing on themes like human and machine authorship, patenting AI-generated inventions, the impact of AI on platform governance, and the role of AI in consumer perspectives.

Practical details include a full-day conference on May 18, 2026, held on-site at the KU Leuven Faculty of Law and Criminology, followed by a Researchers workshop on May 19, 2026. The event will feature networking opportunities, on-site lunch, and a closing reception. Notable speakers include Ruth Okediji from Harvard University, who will deliver the keynote address, and other distinguished scholars serving as session chairs and discussants.

This conference is ideal for IP scholars, legal practitioners, policymakers, and researchers interested in the evolving relationship between IP law and AI. Attendees will gain insights into the latest developments, engage in meaningful discussions, and network with leading experts in the field.
