The National Institute of Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Education (NIAMRRE) is hosting its sixth annual conference from May 19 to 21, 2026, in Ames, Iowa. This event, co-hosted by Food Forward and Iowa State University, aims to unite professionals from academia, industry, and government across the One Health spectrum—including human, animal, plant, and environmental health—to collaboratively address antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

The conference will feature a diverse array of presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and informal gatherings. Keynote speakers include Dr. Elliott Dennis, an Associate Professor of Livestock and Meat Economics at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and Susan Winckler, CEO of the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the Food and Drug Administration. Attendees will engage in sessions focused on mobilizing collaboration, fostering innovation, and implementing actionable strategies to combat AMR.

In addition to the formal sessions, the conference offers ample networking opportunities, including a welcome reception and optional tours. A poster session will showcase current research, with a graduate student poster competition awarding monetary prizes to the top three presentations. The event will be held at the Gateway Hotel & Conference Center, conveniently located near the Iowa State University campus and within an hour's drive from Des Moines International Airport.

This conference is ideal for professionals and students involved in AMR research, policy, and practice. Participants will gain valuable insights, establish new connections, and leave with actionable steps to contribute to the global fight against antimicrobial resistance.
