The Notre Dame Law Review Symposium 2026–2027 is an esteemed annual event organized by the Notre Dame Law Review, a student-edited journal at the University of Notre Dame Law School. This symposium continues the tradition of fostering intellectual engagement by bringing together respected and diverse speakers to explore timely and thought-provoking legal topics.
The symposium will feature two primary themes. One will focus on federal courts, practice, and procedure, reflecting a 25-year tradition of addressing topics such as state standing, the future of qualified immunity, constitutional structure, the Eleventh Amendment, sovereign immunity, and the Judiciary Act of 1925. The second theme is open to any engaging legal matter, with past topics including constitutional reconstruction, contemporary free speech, administrative lawmaking in the 21st century, religious liberty, and the legal implications of congressional gridlock.
Attendees can expect a series of panel discussions, keynote addresses, and opportunities for scholarly discourse. Traditionally, each participant publishes an article in one of the Law Review’s symposium issues, contributing to the broader legal scholarship.
This symposium is ideal for legal scholars, practitioners, and students interested in deepening their understanding of current legal issues and engaging with leading experts in the field.
