Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference 2026

by Society of Legal Scholars

The Society of Legal Scholars (SLS) will host its 117th Annual Conference from 2 to 4 September 2026 at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich. Established in 1963, UEA's School of Law has a rich history and is renowned for its contributions to legal education and research. This conference continues the tradition of bringing together legal scholars to discuss and advance the field of law.

The 2026 conference theme, "Doing Law Differently," inspired by UEA's motto "Do Different," encourages participants to explore innovative approaches to legal research, methodology, pedagogy, and practice. The program includes a variety of subject sections such as Company Law, Comparative Law, Energy Law, Family Law, Intellectual Property, International Law, Labour Law, Legal Education, Media and Communications Law, Migration and Asylum, Private International Law, Public Law, Remedies and Restitution, and Torts. These sessions aim to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and promote a broader understanding of legal studies.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in plenary sessions, subject-specific discussions, and networking events. Notable social events include the Welcome Drinks and Publishers' Reception at UEA's New Science Building, an informal dinner at the Sainsbury Centre, and the Annual Dinner at The Assembly House in Norwich city centre. These gatherings provide a platform for participants to connect with peers, discuss research, and explore potential collaborations.

The conference is designed for legal scholars, practitioners, and students interested in contemporary legal issues and innovative practices. It offers a unique opportunity to engage with leading experts, gain insights into various legal disciplines, and contribute to the ongoing discourse in the legal community.
