Trial Advocacy

The Washington Council of Lawyers is hosting its annual Trial Advocacy training from May 6 to May 8, 2026. This event is part of their esteemed Litigation Skills Series, designed to enhance the courtroom capabilities of legal professionals through comprehensive instruction and practice.

The training will focus on four fundamental trial skills: Opening Statements, Direct Examinations, Cross-Examinations, and Closing Arguments. Each session begins with a lecture by an expert trainer, followed by demonstrations from seasoned litigators. Participants will then engage in small group breakout sessions to practice these skills, receiving individualized, constructive feedback from experienced facilitators.

This year's program adopts a hybrid format, with the first and third days conducted virtually and the second day held in person at Hogan Lovells (555 13th St NW). This structure offers flexibility while ensuring participants benefit from both remote learning and face-to-face interactions.
