UCL-Korea Conference: Criminal Law and Jurisprudence

by UCL Laws Events

The UCL-Korea Conference on Criminal Law and Jurisprudence is a collaborative event organized by University College London's Faculty of Laws and the Korean Law Professors’ Association. Scheduled for February 19–20, 2026, in London, this conference aims to foster academic exchange between UK-based scholars and their South Korean counterparts, focusing on criminal law and jurisprudence.

The conference is structured into two main sessions: the first day is dedicated to jurisprudence papers, while the second day focuses on criminal law papers. Topics include AI and the limits of law, the state's authority to criminally punish, judicial beliefs about the law, and the concept of conditional intent in Korea. Each session features presentations by scholars from both countries, followed by commentary from peers.

Attendees will have opportunities to engage with leading academics in the field, participate in discussions, and network during scheduled breaks and a closing drinks reception. The event is free to attend and open to all interested in criminal law and jurisprudence.

This conference is particularly beneficial for legal scholars, practitioners, and students seeking to deepen their understanding of comparative criminal law and engage with international perspectives on jurisprudence.
