The Young European Security Conference (YESC) is an annual event dedicated to engaging young individuals from across Europe in discussions on contemporary security policy issues. Organized by the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe in collaboration with the Hertie Foundation, the conference aims to empower youth by providing a platform for dialogue with experts from academia, politics, and civil society.
The 2026 edition, themed "Youth Perspectives on Shifting Powers – Rethinking Security in a Multipolar World," will address topics such as Europe's evolving security architecture, climate-related security challenges, economic competition's impact on international security, and the role of gender in conflict resolution. Participants will engage in working groups tailored to varying levels of prior knowledge, ensuring an inclusive and comprehensive exploration of these subjects.
Beyond the working groups, the conference offers interactive formats like World Café sessions and expert discussions, fostering dynamic exchanges of ideas. A highlight of the event is the ceremonial closing discussion, where participants present their insights and proposals to high-level guests, facilitating meaningful dialogue between youth and decision-makers.
The YESC is ideal for young individuals aged 16 to 21 who are keen to deepen their understanding of security policy and contribute their perspectives to the discourse. Attendees will not only enhance their knowledge but also build networks with peers and professionals, positioning themselves as active contributors to Europe's security dialogue.
