Omar A. Syed

Omar A. Syed is Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Rice University. He joined Rice in 2022 after 15 years with The University of Texas System, where he last served as Associate Vice Chancellor and Deputy General Counsel. Omar earned his B.A. with special honors from the University of Chicago and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota. After law school, he served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Minnesota and an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Minneapolis.
