The Vermont Tech Jam is an annual technology-focused event that brings together the state's leading tech firms, educational institutions, and organizations to showcase innovation and foster connections within the tech community. Organized by Seven Days, a Vermont-based media company, the 2017 Tech Jam took place on October 20 and 21 at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction.
The 2017 event featured a diverse range of topics, including cybersecurity workshops tailored for small businesses, discussions on the challenges and opportunities presented by increasing automation in manufacturing and the Internet of Things, and conversations about the responsibilities of tech companies in promoting social responsibility. Additionally, the event hosted a Vintage Tech Showcase, displaying working models of classic computers from the 1970s to the 1990s, such as the Apple IIe and Commodore 64.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage with over 60 exhibitors, including companies, colleges, and tech organizations. The event also featured a dozen presentations organized into three tracks: one for small business owners and decision-makers, one for job seekers, and another for those interested in emerging opportunities in the local tech scene. Notable speakers from companies like Tesla, Facebook, IBM, and Burton Snowboards shared insights, and the event concluded with the announcement of the 2017 Tech Jam Awards, recognizing outstanding local leaders in categories such as Innovation, Newcomer, Startup, and Ambassador.
The Vermont Tech Jam is ideal for tech professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and anyone interested in Vermont's technology sector. It offers a platform to explore career opportunities, gain insights into industry trends, and network with key players in the tech community.
